What is Nano Banana?

Nano Banana is the nickname (now the official product name) for Google's image generation and editing model family inside Gemini. Beyond generating images from text, its signature skill is editing: upload a photo or a product shot, describe the change, and it keeps the subject consistent across edits and scenes.

It runs in the Gemini app and through the API, and it is one of the models third-party platforms like Higgsfield expose. Character and product consistency across generations is the reason it became the default for a lot of marketing and brand imagery work.

How and why we use Nano Banana at AI4NTP

Nano Banana is in Ian Kilpatrick's brand-iteration kit from Session 008: once you have collected designs you like (his starting point is Behance), you use image generators, he named Midjourney and Nano Banana in the same breath, to create the things that get close, then take what works and tweak it until it is your own. Good artists borrow, great artists steal, then AI accelerates the tweaking.

Its particular strength for brand work is editing and consistency: it can take an existing image (your logo, your product, your mascot) and place or restyle it while keeping it recognizably the same thing, which is exactly what iterating on brand imagery demands. It is also one of the models aggregated inside Higgsfield, where Alec does his generation, so you may already have access to it there.

Is Nano Banana right for non-technical people?

Non-designers doing what Session 008 prescribed: iterating toward a brand look by generating, comparing, and refining. If your image work involves an existing thing that must stay recognizable, your logo on a hat, your product in a scene, Nano Banana's editing consistency is the differentiator over pure text-to-image tools.
